Breaking Ground Dance Center’s Competitive Company has a reputation for exceptional performers who have outstanding training. All new members must audition to be placed on the company. Each dancer is required to sign a contract that binds them for the full season to ensure that all team members are fully committed to the team and the studio. The info below may answer a few questions concerning our company.
- When can my dancer audition? Please call the office to set up an audition if you are not a current student. Auditions are ongoing.
- What should my dancer do to prepare for company? Your dancer should have experience in ballet and jazz before auditioning for our company.
- How many competitions/conventions does the company attend each year?
- Mini members attend 3 regional competitions.
- Petite members attend 5 regional competitions.
- Junior members attend 5 regional and 1 national competition.
- Senior members attend 5 regional and 1 national competition.
- We also offer optional competitions, conventions and workshops dates for the students who want to do more.
- Are the competitions mandatory? Yes
- Does my dancer have to do “Boot Camp”? Yes it is mandatory to take this camp in order to be in the group.
- Does my dancer have to do Tap, Hip Hop or Pointe? We strongly encourage the dancers to take these disciplines as we feel it benefits the dancers, but it is not mandatory.
- Do you offer a solo program? Yes. Selection of soloists is made by the director only.
